Oh, Weather

Well, we certainly did not pack for the weather we have encountered. Yesterday was torrential rain with crazy wind and because we did not have proper clothing for the kids, we spent the majority of the day indoors. I was able to run to the supermarket and pick up enough food for lunch and dinner just prior to it closing. All of Italy is virtually closed on Sundays with the exception of a small window of time for supermarkets.
On my walk home from the market my umbrella broke, one of my bags broke and I was soaking wet. But I am in Venice … so I am happy!
We were able to catch up on sleep and have a great lunch indoors. After our nap the rain cleared a bit although the winds were still pretty rough. We took to the streets and explored our neighborhood, which is very artsy and hip. I am fascinated by the fashion – and to those who I mentioned the man-pri, it took exactly five minutes from arrival in Venice before I spotted my first pair! I am also intrigued by the man-bags and the come back of the fanny pack. No matter how stylish they make it look, I just can not embrace the return of the fanny pack – Gucci or not.
Anyway, we ventured out for dinner last night and had our first pizza. The pizzeria was charming and packed, and Sofia entertained the entire restaurant with her endless – and quite loud – singing. Poor dear can not carry a tune, however she was committed to her song and stole the hearts of all in the room!
Vinny is loving Venice. He is fascinated with the pigeons and the boats. And the amazing amounts of gelato he is eating every day.
Today we had less rain, so we hit the streets again this time venturing out to Piazza san Marco. The crowds are so much more intense than when I was here last, even in the rain.
All for now … Ciao from Venice!!
