Travel is and has long been an important part of my life. My first big international trip was a solo trip right after college. As a mom, I often think about that trip and what my own mom may have been feeling. Was she nervous? Excited for me? A little of both? Cell phones were not yet invented, nor was the internet, so she had no way of reaching me to make sure I was okay. I have vivid memories of tracking down pay phones to call her maybe two or three times, at most.

My own kids have each now had their own international trips without me there to help guide them. I'm grateful that they both love to travel. I'm grateful that they are confident in doing so. And I'm extremely grateful for cell phones!

This blog serves as a place to document our travels, to preserve them and revisit for years to come, and to share our adventures with family and friends. And since I've retired, it has now expanded a bit to include some of my shenanigans without the family in tow!
